Brewing basics

Use 1 teaspoon of loose leaf tea per 8 oz cup.

That is the easiest starting point. Once you know how a tea tastes, adjust the amount of leaf, water temperature, or steep time until the cup feels right.

Black tea

1 teaspoon per 8 oz cup. Boiling water. 3+ minutes. Add more leaf for a stronger breakfast-style cup.

Green tea

1 teaspoon per 8 oz cup. Below boiling. 1-2 minutes. Use cooler water if it tastes sharp.

Herbal and rooibos

1 teaspoon per 8 oz cup. Boiling water. 5+ minutes. These can usually steep longer without bitterness.

Adjust without overthinking it.

If your tea tastes weak, use a little more leaf next time. If it tastes too strong, use less leaf or steep for less time. If green tea tastes bitter, lower the water temperature before changing anything else.

Most Tea Cozy 3 oz bags make about 30 to 40 cups, depending on how strong you like your tea.
